Detective Helen Grace gets caught in an inferno of death and destruction in the red-hot new thriller from the author of Eeny Meeny, Pop Goes the Weasel, and The Doll’s House

Detective Helen Grace has never seen such destruction. Six fires in twenty-four hours. Two people dead. Several more injured. It’s as if someone wants to burn the city to the ground…

With the whole town on high alert, Helen and her team must sift through the rubble to find the arsonist, someone whose thirst for fire—and control—is reducing entire lives to ashes.

One misstep could mean Helen’s career—and more lives lost. And as the pressure mounts and more buildings burn, Helen’s own dark impulses threaten to consume her…

My Review

This is book 4 in the DI Helen Grace series and I’m a full fledge fan of Mr Arlidge.  As usual, this book was so pleasant to read, flowed beautifully. The characters were 4D and I enjoyed getting to know them all.  I gasped in a few spots, and the twist (who the perp was), never guessed it! Personally, I actually liked that it wasn’t your usual blood and gore type murders, I don’t usually like that sort. However as I mentioned, it was such a smooth read that I ended up really enjoying it.  One thing I’m curious about is Grace’s masochistic tendency, and if you’ve read the series you’ll know what I’m talking about. It’s a strange and interesting part of her story isn’t it.

Would I recommend this book, absolutely. If you haven’t yet read the series and you enjoy crime fiction then I’d encourage you to give it a go.

I rated Liar Liar: 4.5/5 stars

Happy Reading

Avid reader and 'collector' of books. I'm a prison psychologist and criminologist, so no surprise when I admit I have a particular like in true crime and psychological/police procedure thrillers and suspense books.
